Hi! I'm Dr. Kristen Hammett, owner and senior veterinarian of The Animal Hospital of Waynesville.

I enjoy many aspects of small animal veterinary medicine — especially surgery, internal medicine, and canine breeding/reproduction. A Waynesville native, I graduated from veterinary school at Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in Alabama in 1983. After five years in small animal practice elsewhere, a transfer in my husband's career brought me back to Western North Carolina and I landed right back in Waynesville. I had been gone for 13 years, long enough to realize what a wonderful place this town is. After working in this practice for some time, I purchased it when the former owner retired in 1989.

My husband, Jack Swanner, and I have two daughters, Savannah and Jesse Marie, and four cats. Outside work I am involved in the Regional Emergency Animal Care Hospital (REACHospital) and various community and church roles. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, bridge, travel, Spanish, community support, and being "Mom" to my girls.

Hello, I'm Dr. Susan Bull

While I involve myself in nearly all aspects of small animal practice, my particular interests are internal medicine and opthalmology. I earned my veterinary degree from North Carolina State University in 1994 and began practice at The Animal Hospital of Waynesville. Fairfax, Virginia, is my hometown but I have strong family ties to the North Carolina coast.

My husband, Adam Bull, is an attorney in Asheville. We have two sons, Nathan and Andrew, and a daughter, Lindsey. We also have two cats and one dog. After my second child was born, I stepped back to a part-time position here. I am currently involved in the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association and board positions and other leadership roles with the NC State Veterinary Alumni Program. Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending weekends at my family's boathouse on Lake Fontana and visiting my family at Kennel's Beach, North Carolina.

Hello! I'm Dr. Laura Rosenthal

I am originally from Silver Spring , Maryland . I earned my undergraduate and veterinary degrees at Virginia Tech. I played first base on the Virginia Tech softball team throughout my undergraduate years. After graduating from Veterinary school in 2004, I spent two years in small animal practice in Pennsylvania . I am thrilled to have moved to the Western North Carolina in these beautiful mountains.

I love every aspect of veterinary medicine, with special interest in dentistry, internal medicine and ultrasound.

My husband, Matt, and I share our home with our dog Casey. In my free time she enjoys reading, hiking, gardening and learning to kayak.

Hello! I'm Dr. Jenny Gibson

Dr. Gibson is a 1996 graduate of Louisiana State University 's College of Veterinary Medicine . She is also a member of the AVMA, NCVMA and LSU Alumni Association. Following graduation, Dr. Gibson returned to home to practice at a small animal clinic in Pensacola , FL. After eleven years and several hurricanes later, she decided it was time for a fresh perspective. To our good fortune, Dr. Gibson has chosen The Animal Hospital of Waynesville in downtown Waynesville.  Dr. Gibson's passion is Small animal general practice with special interests in dermatology and feline medicine. Dr. Gibson and her husband are currently raising (4) cats and (1) dog.  During her free time, she enjoys landscaping and refurbishing their home and exploring and enjoying their new surroundings in Western North Carolina .
